Feedback expected 1 Feb 2021

Luton Council is considering the introduction of a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) within the Biscot ward area in response to reports of Anti-social Behaviour (ASB). If approved the PSPO will aim to tackle areas of ASB therefore reducing the impact they have on the community.

Why your views matter

As mentioned, the Council is considering a proposal to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) within the Biscot ward area. A PSPO is legislation introduced under the Anti-social Behaviour Crime & Policing Act 2014 to allow the council to introduce requirements/prohibitions to deal with identified issues and behaviours that are likely to affect the local area. This will allow the council to introduce measures and/or Fixed Penalty Notices of up to £100 to address the issues identified. We are also seeking your views on the area to be included under the PSPO, however to give an idea, we are considering the area highlighted in the attached map. We are seeking the views of our local residents, business and people that work in and or visit the area on the matters/activities to be included in the PSPO. This survey is an opportunity for you to provide us with your comments on the proposals and also your experiences within the local area.

What happens next

Following the details of the surveys being received and assessed, we will then look at evidence basis to implement a Public Spaces Protection Order. Following legal tests being met, we will then go to full consultation with a view to implement.
