Overview

Review of Luton Borough Councils Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy. The Gambling Act 2005 states that the Council must produce a Gambling Policy Statement in relation to how it will deal with gambling matters within the Borough of Luton and once adopted, the policy will run from January 2022 to 2025.

The aim is to make the Statement of Gambling Licensing Policy a point of reference for applicants detailing how to apply for a licence or an authorisation, in line with the expectations of the Council, responsible authorities and the Gambling Commission.

We welcome your views on the draft Policy, but wish to point out that the Gambling Act 2005 prevents the Council from considering views based on moral objections. We cannot take into account comments based on a personal dislike of gambling or a view that it is undesirable. In addition, we cannot take into account issues around demand or need for gambling premises in the Borough of Luton.
